First Look: Tibi Fall/Winter 2011

While there was nothing exceptionally remarkable about the first few looks that strolled down the runway at Tibi, I was pretty neutral about the neutral palette of the collection…until a model popped out in a neon pink hat paired with menswear-esque greys and browns.

Tibi didn’t have me until the 4th or 5th look, when a model wearing a tea-length skin-tight cable-knit grey sweaterdress strutted down the runway. And then Amy Smilovic had my full attention.

From there on out, the rest of the collection seemed cohesive and attention grabbing–billowing watercolor-esque dresses paired with shearling jackets, a stunning damask printed red and white a-line mini dress (a hoop-skirt and high neck top with similar print was the final piece of the collection), followed by a couple of dresses featuring white applique chiffon with black edging, fashioned to almost seem like ruffles.

Tibi also featured metallic gold lace, crochet, a couple of pieces that were a deep teal color with rosettes and ruffles…pictures don’t even do them justice.

What started out a bit on the rough side, ended up being one of my favorite collections (along with only two others!) of the Fall/Winter 2011 season.
