Top Beauty Finds 2010 (…plus a contest!)

1. Dior Eye Essentials Kit (Limited Edition) $58

Even though this is limited edition, I chose this set because it has two of my favorite products, 5-Colour Designer All-In-One Artistry palette in Nude Pink and a mini DiorShow Mascara.

2. Sara Happ The Lip Scrub in Red Velvet (Limited Edition) $24

Another limited edition pick, you should should scoop this one up fast! I recently discovered Sara Happ, and I’m completely obsessed with these lip scrubs. My lips look and feel much better, even in this crazy winter cold, and you can’t beat the taste or smell of any of the flavors in her collection!

3. CND Colour & Effect Polishes (Shown in Asphalt and Copper Shimmer) $9

I’m obsessed with CND’s fabulous idea to have a base color and then change it up with the effects. This pairing is my absolute favorite, used in the women’s 3.1 Phillip Lim show this past fall at fashion week. Bonus: my DIY manicure with this polish lasted over 2 weeks without chipping. Love much?

4. Hourglass Cosmetics Prodigy Hydrating Lip Gloss $26

I was introduced to this gloss earlier this year and I’m still in love with its look, texture and ergonomic package design. See my original review here! *WIN ME*

5. Caress Whipped Souffle Body Wash in Blackberry Cream $3.97

This hydrating body wash smells like you could eat it up! I got my chance to indulge in Caress back in March and I’ve been hooked ever since. Even Julianne Hough signed on to indulge in these fabulous body washes. See my indulgent experience here! *WIN ME*

6. Moroccan Oil Treatment $39/3.4 oz

Moroccan Oil has basically become part of my hair routine since I found this product through my hair stylist early in the year. It’s silkening, hydrating, fights frizz and smells ooh-la-la amazing.

7. Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion Set $29 (Limited Edition)
The set may be limited edition, but you can get the amazingness of this eyeshadow primer any time of the year. Way back in the year,  Jenny turned me on to Urban Decay’s Primer Potion in “Sin”. It was a fabulous recommendation, and after consulting with a few other beauty bloggers a week or so ago, we determined that it pretty much works for anyone with any kind of skin type or color. Way to go, Urban Decay!

8. Beauty For Real Light Up Lip Gloss $22 (shown in Light-hearted)

My favorite package design find of the year, and the gloss ain’t bad either! I got this amazingness, that lights up AND has a mirror! I’m still wondering why someone didn’t think of this sooner, but thank goodness, BFR founder Leslie Munsell did! I keep this gloss with me at all times, for a quick hydrating fix, with a little plumping. I can’t wait to see what other innovative products BFR releases in the coming months and years…See my original review here! *WIN ME*

Great website Erika!! I have already saved it to my favorites. We could talk for hours about products, but here is one of my top picks, and has been for years. It is Eye Bright by Benefit- my eye makeup is never complete without it. I line the inside of my lower lid and put a dab on each corner of my eye and blend- makes you look wide awake, even after a late night. Best of luck with this website, I will be poking around. Cheers, Erica

  4. Brooke says:

    I swear by moroccan oil!

Hi Erika! I love your website & blog. It’s very informative & fun! My favorite beauty product is Frederic Fekkai’s Marine Summer Hair spray mist. I LOVE that stuff! I live in sunny FL & the humidity is always terrible, no matter what month it is. I have naturally curly hair, but I always straighten it. Throughout the day my hair goes flat & turns to frizz. BUT since I discovered this product.. omgosh it’s a miracle worker! No frizz, no flat hair. I LOVE it & cannot live without it!

  7. Desiree' says:

    Hi Erika-
My fav product (for years) has been Johnson’s Body Care 24-hour Body Lotion (in the pink bottle). This lotion ensures that my skin stays smooth & hydrated all day, even in the winter. Love the website and photo of Izzy!

  8. Nicki says:

I am so glad to have found this blog in 2010..I’ve been following it on bloglovin for months now!

I’d have to say my one MUST-HAVE is white kohl eyeliner. A dab at the inner corner of your eyes brightens everything up!

  9. Rachael says:

Thanks for sharing these! I’m going to have to check out that lip scrub because this winter weather is doing a number on my lips!

I’d love to win some of these! I’m on Twitter @styleeveryday and my fave beauty product is NARS blush in orgasm because it’s great for adding just a little pink to your cheeks or you can really do it up for a big night on the town.

  10. Susannah Kumming says:

Love the website Erika! My favorite product is Bare Escentuals BareMinerals Buxom Big & Healthy Full-Color Lip Polish. I love the tingly feeling it leaves on my lips and it makes my lips look full and beautiful.

Asking a beauty junkie to name her favorite beauty product, well, I’ve already been sitting at this computer for over 2 hours trying to come up with just one thing and I simply can’t. So maybe I can answer it a different way by telling you which cosmetic lines I “discovered” this year and absolutely fell in love with their products even though the companies have been around for a while.
I’d like to start with a cosmetic’s line created by famed Hollywood superstar Make up artist Julie Hewett. If you haven’t tried this line of cosmetics, then you simply must. It truly is like none other. Although known for her gorgeous shades of red lipsticks, all of her products are equally as fabulous. And the cherry on top is that her products are extremely affordable and the amount of product you receive quite generous.Everyone should at least try Ms. Hewett’s products and I have a sneaky suspicion that once you do, you’ll be hooked for life, just as I am.
Another line I fell in love with is 3CC (Three Custom Color Specialists) I don’t know how to explain their products except to say that you’ll never find anything comparable to them. Their color selection is enormous, their eye shadows feel like silk on your lids and many of the shadows have just a splash of glimmer that is subtle enough to wear all day or build it up a little more and party the night away. I can’t get enough of these products and here too, I strongly suggest everyone try something from this line.
However, I also love the items you chose as your favorites as well. Dior has some of the most sophisticated, classy palettes on the market and urban decay primer is literally, the fountain of youth. This is an extremely generous giveaway and I’d like to thank you for giving us the opportunity to win these gorgeous gifts.I could sit here at my computer and write a book about all the beauty products I love and why but unfortunately I already tried but ran out of room. I guess you knew better and limited our answers. Smart girl you are. This is my first entry for this contest. Thanks again, kleimanlaw at aol dot com

  15. Angelica Strowder says:

Hi there! Thanks for the contest and product reviews! One thing I have to have are the C.O. Bigelow Mentha Lip Shine/Glosses. I buy them at Bath and Body Works and they are wonderful for lip moisture and terrific mint scents! Most if the time, I don’t even care which kind I get because I know each one is top notch!

  16. Tina Vega says:

Hey there! I love this site! Im a makeup junkie and would be in really bad shape if I could afford everything I wanted. lol Im sure that applies to a lot of us. But I love anything makeup and/or bath and body and frequent the makeupalley bath and body board.

I guess my favorite item is Nars Multiple in Maldives. I use this all the time, mostly on days when I dont work too hard on makeup. Just some tinted moisturizer and this on cheeks and lids and a swipe of mascara. It gives me a perfect glow all over and never fails. 🙂

  17. Allie Holtzer says:

Hello Erika you look really familiar I think we might have met in Paris or something! haha I want alllll of these things!! I have to say besides Moroccan Oil, It’s a 10 miracle leave-in product is amazing! It’s so nice when I go home to New York from Boston and have that first great shower and steal some of my moms hair products. Boston water is really harsh on my hair there’s way too much chlorine in the tap water up there. The beautiful upstate spring water that I get on Long Island is so refreshing and when I put in the 10 leave-in product I feel like I have a whole new head of hair. My mom and I get it from Ulta, it’s a must have! Also I swear by my L’Occitane en Provence lip gloss, especially in the winter.

  18. clara says:

My twitter name is lilzhenghai. My favorite beauty product is Clinique’s Superbalanced Makeup Foundation. It glides really nicely onto your skin and gives excellent coverage. It doesn’t feel heavy at all. This foundation gently smooths out your skin and makes it radiant and beautiful. The texture is phenomenal, no wonder why I always reach for this foundation instead of my other ones. It is a must have =)!

Thank you for this amazing contest! And have a Happy 2011 =)!

Wow, I love this contest!!!! You have some great prizes! I am bcript on Twitter, and I follow you there. I am also a fan on FaceBook.
My newest favorite product that I’m excited about is Maybelline’s “Instant Age rewind, Primer and Base!!! I love it because of the way it refracts light on and away from my face just where I seem to need it to make me look my best. It leaves my face so soft and supple. I love touching my face throughout the day just because I can’t believe how soft it still is.

  21. Hands down…. COR Silver Soap. A-MA-ZING. It does it all in one ball (yes I said ball) of soap. Evens skins tone, exfoliates (just use your fingers in a circular motion AFTER rinsing off to exfoliate) softens, removes all make up including eye gently. It is gentle enough to not even need a moisturizer (if your weather isn’t too extreme). It clears up acne, keeps my face from scaring when I can’t resist squishing my pimples…lol. And I am 43 years old, when I first used this I swear it took 10 years off my face just by evening tone and texture.
I also think Too Faced Intensive Plumping Lip Mask is pretty amazing at creating a bee stung lip look that last a few days.
Obviously, I am looking for things to repair and enhance these days rather than heavy or flashy things. The older you get the less ‘capable’ you are of carrying off anything heavy on your skin and eyes. You want to moisten and plump those lips, even that skin and try try try to lose the weight and circle from around the eyes…..
OK that was all really long winded. Oops. LOL!

I really want to try the Moroccan oil… my hair is not behaving well these days! pick me-pick me-pick me…. with my toes & fingers crossed :p
